Write Advice is the Key for Authors
Last Thursday, forty five children attended Write Away With Me’s inaugural ‘Writer’s Masterclass’. Jackie Kerin and Adam Wallace, each presented a great workshop designed to inspire children to get creative, unleash their imagination, indulge in a little storytelling and write (and draw) their stories into life!
Here is some of the feedback I have received so far:
“Tom and Maddie absolutely loved the writers class…..they thought it was “the best” thing they have ever done.” Rachael
“Congratulations on your first masterclass! What a success! Mia had an amazing time and was so inspired by both guests… Particularly Adam and his UFO dog! There is not a brown lunch bag in our house without a cartoon creature scribbled on the front. A fantastic day Beth!” Ruth
“My daughter Serena McGrath attended the Writer’s Masterclass and thoroughly enjoyed it. She gave it a ten out of ten. She said it was extremely fun, the authors were extremely interesting and entertaining. She has picked up many points that she can use for writing in and out of school. The whole experience for her was very positive. She is hoping to attend the next one and possubly my son as well as he will be 7 by then. Thanks once again. “ Cynthia Boudeville
“My daughter, Maddie, attended the afternoon session with Adam and loved it! From the time she got home, she didn’t stop drawing and this continued over the weekend. It also encouraged her to resume a story that she started last year! Thanks for organising such a great session – she would love to do another one and this time wants to do the full day!” Michelle
And then yesterday, this great picture and article appeared in the Waverley Leader newspaper. It certainly captures the mood of the day!
Thank you to our guest presenters and to all the families and children who supported this program. The Writer’s Masterclass returns next holidays on the 11th July. Stay tuned for more information! Who will be our guest authors? All will soon be revealed…
In the meantime, The Writer’s Club begins at both our Melbourne venues ( Oakleigh and Parkdale) in the first week of May. We are doing ‘The 6×6 Challenge – Six Stories in Six Weeks’ (all inspired by writing and storytelling games!) Yes folks – there will be fun! There will be games! And there will be plenty of writing! If you would like more information about The Writer’s Club, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
